In March 2024, Altaterra was awarded Gold Membership by the Supply Chain Sustainability  School (SCSS) for the Dakea zero plastic packaging initiative.

Altaterra has been awarded Gold Membership by the Supply Chain Sustainability School (SCSS) in recognition of Dakea’s progress towards sustainability and engagement with the SCSS platform.

Zero plastic packaging

Altaterra, which has been part of SCSS for 8 years, has achieved gold status as a result of its progress towards meeting its sustainability targets. In 2022, Altaterra launched their zero plastic, 100% recyclable product packaging for their roof window category, and this was extended to their flashing accessories in 2023. These initiatives are saving nine tons of plastic each year and are also designed to help the construction industry, particularly housebuilders and property developers, with on-site waste management. This forms part of the Altaterra’s WeCare Sustainability Strategy (developed in conjunction with the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi), a coalition of expert organizations that helps private companies to set science backed climate goals). Altaterra continues to work towards a number of other sustainability targets.

The Supply Chain Sustainability School

The Supply Chain Sustainability School is a collaborative virtual platform that provides learning and resources around sustainability, with the aim to upskill those working within the built environment sector. They offer four membership levels, and each level reflects both how engaged an organisation is with SCSS and rewards those who are committed to continuous improvement in sustainability. Gold Membership represents the top tier.
